Mumbai: Renowned singer Arijit Singh has decided to cancel his forthcoming concert in Chennai due to the horrific terrorist incident that occurred in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
On Thursday, Arijit shared a message from the event organizers via his Instagram Stories.
The organizers announced, “In light of the recent and tragic events, the organizers, along with the artist, have jointly decided to cancel the upcoming show scheduled for this Sunday, April 27 in Chennai.”
Both the singer and the organizers reassured ticket holders that they will receive a full refund, which will soon be processed back to their original payment method.
They added, “All ticket holders will receive full refunds, and the amount will be automatically refunded back to your original mode of payment. For any queries, please contact events@district.i.n. Thank you for your understanding.”
The brutal attack on tourists resulted in over 20 fatalities, including a local hero who attempted to confront the terrorists and was shot in the process. The attackers reportedly targeted tourists based on their religious beliefs.
The Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for this attack. TRF emerged following the revocation of Article 370, which previously granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
This incident has reignited discussions regarding the increasing influence of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in the Kashmir region.
In response to the attack, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, a move that has been praised domestically but criticized by Islamabad, with a senior Pakistani official labeling it as an act of “water warfare.”
The recent terror attack has drawn condemnation from various countries, with Canada being the only G7 nation that has not issued a statement regarding the incident.
